Web Summit 2018: the European event par excellence dedicated to innovation and the digital world, which was held in Lisbon from 5 to 8 November at the Altice Arena, ended with a real success for the participants and for our magazine. In this post for Pop Up Magazine I will tell you about my experience in the Portuguese capital, using 3 proverbs, three phrases in Portuguese that are significant to me that summarize the memory of the Web Summit, one of which I found on the eDreams website . As anticipated, the event was held at the Altice Arena , which was the perfect setting for such an important event. Built for the 1998 Expo , it was designed by architect Regino Cruz in collaboration with the Office of SOM Architecture (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill) and after changing its name several times, in 2017 it was renamed Altice Arena.
Coming back to me, in general I can say that the experience at the Portuguese event Find Your Phone Number was positive: I was able to meet many people linked to the world of innovation, innovative startups and did a lot of networking with professionals in the sector. But let's go in order: here are the three Portuguese proverbs that enclose my Web Summit 2018. You don't catch trout with dry pants – Naõ se tomaõ trutas a bragas enxutas The meaning of this proverb is that you need to work hard to succeed in things. The various startups present at the Portuguese event know this well, some of which have really worked hard to be present in Lisbon, through stands made available by the organization and by attending the various meetings dedicated to them. Your commitment will not be in vain: there are some realities worthy of moving forward and dedicating themselves to the general public.
The water comes to the mill from afar – De longe vem agoa ao moinho This proverb is used to demonstrate the planning that goes into a startup, sometimes even years of work to develop your business idea. In fact, there are many steps to take to go from the idea to its realization and sale of the product/service. The staff needs to work hard on the project and fill all the existing gaps that arise from time to time. Light is born from discussion – From discussionão nasce a luz This proverb is dedicated to the many speeches and events organized for the Web Summit. In fact, from 5 to 8 November the Altice Arena in Lisbon was filled with many professionals, several thousand, who attended the many meetings that took place in the Portuguese location dedicated to innovation.
